Basic Information

Hello wedding invite person!

Here you can find information about flights, directions, transport and accomodation for our wedding this summer.

We are getting married on Thursday August 28 in Toulouse. Check out the latest weather forecast for the area here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=5007

In August, expect it to be BOILING. So you can probably leave that heavy wool suit at home. Robbie and Mike... you still have to wear kilts.

If you have any questions or need any advice, please send us an email at jim_s_reed@hotmail.com or cclairon@hotmail.com. Or call us at home or on our mobiles.

Dates for the wedding

Charlotte and I are flying out on the weekend of August 23rd and will be in Toulouse for the full week of the wedding. Maybe part of the week after as well. So, don't just come for the wedding. Come out for the whole week. Or a couple of days either side. And join us for lots of good French food and sun.

The wedding is at 2.30 pm on Thursday 28th. So it is possible to fly in that morning if you can find the right flights and you don't have much time to spare.

Oh and remember that August bank holiday (in the UK) is really early this year. It's the weekend before the wedding - the 25th.

Flights to Toulouse

The quicker you can book your flight, the cheaper it will probably be. If you live in the South East, then your best bet is probably Easyjet, which flies directly from Gatwick to Toulouse. But it's not necessarily cheaper than British Airways, which also flies direct from Gatwick.

There are no direct flights from Heathrow. But you can get loads of connections with Air France (Paris), Lufthansa (Frankfurt), KLM (Amsterdam) etc. Check out the normal travel websites like Expedia and Lastminute.

A cheaper option might be to fly with Ryanair. You can get daily flights from Stansted and East Midlands Airport to Carcassonne, which is about 90 minutes or so away from Toulouse. The tough bit is getting from one to another. There is a blog post on Trip Advisor about it and it doesn't sound too difficult. But it's probably for the more adventurous Lonely Planet readers out there.

And for the truly insane (Dan & Carmen), there is always the train journey all the way down through France. Take a Eurostar to Paris and then a flash bullet train down to Toulouse. You can buy the whole thing in one go on the very cool SNCF website. But they only take bookings three months in advance so you may have to wait a bit. Probably bank on about £150 return minimum. And the bad news? Reckon on about 10 hours. But suppose you could do it overnight...

Accomodation and the rest of it

Toulouse is the fourth biggest City in France. So there's tones of accommodation ranging from little guesthouses to massive five star hotels.

The wedding itself will be a civil ceremony in the town hall. They don't mess about with readings, music etc in France so expect the whole thing to last about 20 mins max. Then we are all going to the reception venue which is about a 15 minute drive from the town hall. We will either have to get taxis or we'll try to sort out a bus of some sort.

The town hall is smack in the centre of Toulouse (see Google map). So you are probably best going for a central hotel. Google maps has a couple of recommendations if you click here. Or you can try any of the usual websites. Again Google is your friend.

If you really want to make everyone else jealous, I'd recommend the four-star Grand Hotel de l'Opera, which is on the same square as the Town Hall. A standard room at the end of August works out about £100 a night at the moment (writing this April 19). Considering it's mega flash and has a Michelin star restaurant... doesn't sound toooo bad.

Help us get to Mexico

We’ve been asked what we’d like for a gift and the answer is simple: you, at our wedding, having a great time. But if you insist then, we’ll be honest, we don’t need another toaster! So please help us get to Mexico in 2009 for our honeymoon.

We've set up an online wedding list here: http://www.buy-our-honeymoon.com/reed.clairon.569

You can contribute to various parts of our honeymoon. The site is completely secure and lets you pay by debit or credit card. You'll need a Paypal account but these take about 30 seconds to set up. Any questions, give us a call.

Best man? The truth.

For any relatives that don't know the best man... here is Robbie at his most responsible earlier this year. You can vote on the appropriateness (or otherwise) of his appointment on the left.
